The Electrician Apprentice Preparation Program, in partnership with the New York City Housing Authority, prepares participants to pass the aptitude exam for entry into an Electrical Apprenticeship offered by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union Number 3.

The program offers over 70 hours of training to help participants master the math and reading comprehension skills tested on the Local 3 aptitude exam. Participants who successfully pass the exam are eligible to begin the paid five and a half year Electrical Apprenticeship at a starting salary of $14.50 per hour. Participants will also have the opportunity to attain a tuition-free Associate’s Degree.

The apprenticeship is the beginning of a career pathway to an Electrician Journeyperson, earning $56 an hour. All prospective candidates must be graduates of a direct entry program recognized by Local 3.
