The Bilingual Medical Assistant Training Program at LaGuardia Community College is a year-long, part-time program targeted toward immigrant New Yorkers.

It equips participants with the clinical and administrative skills they need to work as medical assistants, and prepares them for the Clinical Medical Assistant, Electrocardiogram, and Phlebotomy certification exams. Participants in the program complete a 200-hour English as a Second Language Bridge training that teaches English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in a healthcare context, including writing for electronic health records.

The medical assistant curriculum consists of 368 hours of classroom training followed by a 100-hour, $15 per hour internship at healthcare employer partner sites throughout the city. Upon completing the internship, participants will receive assistance connecting to full-time positions. You can learn more online or by phone.
