The Interim Flood Protection Measures Program's is designed to protect critical facilities, infrastructure, and low-lying areas throughout the City from flooding caused by a hurricane.

These interim flood protection measures are managed by NYC Emergency Management in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Recovery and Resiliency and several other agencies. The City worked with engineering consultants and agencies to evaluate the flood risks at each site.

You can submit a report online that a hurricane or flooding caused damage to your property.

Protection against property loss due to flooding is typically not covered under a basic homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policies. Separate flood insurance would need to have been purchased.

Flood insurance is available to homeowners, renters, condo owners/renters, and commercial owners/renters.
