The Green Light for Midtown program is an initiative to reduce traffic congestion and increase pedestrian space in Midtown Manhattan.

Through this program, Broadway has been permanently closed to vehicles from 47th Street to 42nd Street (Times Square) and 35th Street to 33rd Street (Herald Square). The closed blocks have been converted into public plazas.

  • Elimination of left turns from 7th Avenue onto 44th and 46th Streets
